1.  Solana Beach Presbyterian Church is seeking funds to help the “capacity building” efforts of the hospital.  Tumutumu Hospital has an all Kenyan staff and wants to help develop leadership skills and advanced technological skills (e.g. medical specialties) via training and education.

2.  Tumutumu Hospital has on of the best nursing schools in Kenya.  They have two key needs in this area:

• Scholarship money, not all of their students can pay their tuition costs.  SBPC has set up a scholarship fund and churches and individuals can contribute to the general fund or seek to sponsor an identified student. 
• Money for the costs of upgrading their program, the government of Kenya is requiring that Tumutumu offer advanced nursing degrees and that has many associated expenses (everything from improving the library to remodeling buildings and buying an additional bus). Their most significant current need is for funds to remodel the dorm for the male students.

3.  Operations and indigent patient care.  Tumutumu Hospital does not turn anyone away, as a consequence, they often have patients who can not pay their bills and this is a drain on their operations budget.
