Welcome! I’m so glad you’ve decided to explore the possibility of joining our church. My name is Tom Theriault. I’m the outreach and mission pastor at SBPC, and I’ll have the pleasure of hosting your brief journey of discovering what it means to be a member of SBPC.

Perhaps God is leading you to join with us on this adventure of faith. That prospect thrills my heart! God has been bringing our way some awesome people of all types. Each unique person adds so much to what God is doing among us and through us. We’ve designed this short course to help you discern if SBPC is the right faith community for you. Although we have much in common with every other Christian church, it is true that every congregation has its own personality and emphases. We want you to be able to make a thoughtful and prayerful decision about your connection with SBPC.

Joining a church is a big step of faith. It’s far more important than joining a civic group or an athletic club, for the simple reason that the church is the main way that the Kingdom of Jesus Christ is coming to earth. The church has always been imperfect, and SBPC is no exception. But down through the centuries, the church has brought more blessing to the world than any other collection of human beings. We long to discover and distribute more of His Kingdom blessings to our world near and far.

Becoming a member at SBPC is a three step process:

  1. Read through the material online which will tell you who we are, what we believe and how we are trying to live it out. This should take about 1-2 hours of your time. If you have any questions through this process, please feel free to email me or give me a call at the church office.
  2. Complete a little paperwork which will include your story of how you came to faith in Christ and what it means to you as well as filling out the new member form.
  3. Attend the New Member Orientation Seminar which is offered every other month. This class meets for one hour during the 10:30 am worship service. You'll have a chance to meet elders and some of our staff. You'll also be sharing your story of faith.

I'm ready to learn what it means to be a member of SBPC.

I'd like to learn more about SBPC and its ministry first.
