Pastor Mike McClenahan continues the message series, For the Life of the World, with Part 19: Hospitality—Loving, Encouraging, Blessing.
Key Idea: We practice hospitality by loving, encouraging and blessing others.
Key Verse: Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. 1 Peter 4:9 (NIV)
Key Passage: Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble. Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing. For, "Whoever would love life and see good days must keep their tongue from evil and their lips from deceitful speech. They must turn from evil and do good; they must seek peace and pursue it. For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil." 1 Peter 3:8-12 (NIV see Psalm 34:12-14)
Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.... So then, those who suffer according to God's will should commit themselves to their faithful Creator and continue to do good. 1 Peter 4:8-11, 19 (NIV)
