SBPC is at work in the desert of Ethiopia to bring the gospel and community development to a group we call "our friends". This partnership links several US congregations, the Ethiopia Evangelical Church Mekane Jesus and the international relief and development organization World Vision.
History "Come help us," is the request repeated voiced to us by the leaders of the poorest ethnic group in Ethiopia. Because of security concerns, we are not able to post the actual name of this group on the Web, so we will call them, "Our Friends." This two million member Muslim tribe has roamed the barren desert of Ethiopia for millennia, eking out an existence for their herds and families. Remote and neglected by the rest of the world, they refer to themselves as "The Forgotten People." (continued)
Financial Needs We have developed four connection tools to help you and your church get personally involved in raising the $500,000 needed over the next five years (continued)
Getting Involoved Please consider if you or your church would like to become involoved and be Friends of the _____. We are looking for prayer warriors to lift up Our Friends one day every week. We also assemble short term teams to travel there twice each year.
Please email our Missions Pastor Tom Theriault for more information and to become involved with these no longer forgotten people.
